Dale McPherson

Founder – Auctioneer – Broker
1929 – 2023

Dale McPherson built a legacy of excellence in the auction industry that continues today through McPherson Auction & Realty Company.

Dale began his auction career in 1948 working at the Sturgis Livestock Exchange with Jim Madden and Harley Roth. In 1969, Dale was selected as the first South Dakota State Champion Auctioneer in a contest hosted by the Sturgis Livestock Exchange.

Throughout his career, Dale became a respected livestock auctioneer throughout South Dakota and the surrounding region, selling at markets including Sturgis, Wall, Rapid City, Edgemont, Belle Fourche, St. Onge, Mitchell, Fort Pierre, Presho, and many others throughout the Dakotas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Minnesota, and Iowa.

For generations of ranchers and livestock buyers throughout the region, Dale McPherson was a familiar and trusted voice behind the auction microphone.
